Mission News: September is a big month for missions! Alabaster: We have an opportunity to support the building of houses, hospitals, and churches, and also to encourage adults and children to pray for those affected by the Gospel in the buildings constructed. Our “little church” will be available throughout September to receive the sacrificial giving in your Alabaster boxes. (checks are welcome) Faith Promise:   The weekend of September 20-21 is a busy one, with District Superintendent Randy Craker and his wife, Robbie coming as our guests. DS Randy will speak to us at our Saturday banquet, Sept. 20, in the Keith and Keith Fellowship Hall at 6pm. He will also give the message on Sunday morning at the 10:30 service. The banquet tickets are $13 for adults and $6.50 for children 12 and under. They are available at the church office or from members of the missionary council, Donna Marquis, Tammy Leahy, or Lynn Morgan. This is an opportunity for individuals to ask God’s direction in mission giving. It is our way of supporting the work of missionaries and missions throughout the world. A person may give the amount at one time or in smaller increments on a regular basis. The banquet would be a good time to bring a friend to enjoy fellowship, good food and a message from our District Superintendent.

Remember to pray for our Missionaries

GLOBAL MINISTRY REQUESTS

JESUS Film Pastors Killed in Orissa

Two pastors of JESUS film mission churches in Orissa, India, were killed by an angry mob, their churches burned, and their homes destroyed while villagers fled into the jungle. In similar incidents, Nazarene churches in at least six villages were burnt down and homes of countless Nazarene families were destroyed or burnt by the angry mobs. As the violence continues to spread in Orissa, thousands of people, mostly Christians, remain in hiding or have taken refuge in shelter camps set up by the government. Please pray for the families who have lost loved ones and/or their personal belongings. Pray also for the government, that it will be effective in maintaining peace and bringing the situation back to normal.

Special Request—NMI proposes that on Sunday, September 7, 2008, Nazarene churches intercede for Orissa, highlighting the need for solidarity with the victims and leaders in India who are facing difficult times for the sake of the Gospel.

Dili Church and Youth Center

Please pray for the Nazarene church and youth center in Dili, East Timor, as they seek the Lord’s direction related to their current building contract and future building needs.

Ukraine Children’s Homes

Pray for the children’s homes in Ukraine that are expanding their ministry. Pray for resources and encouragement as they seek to provide hope to the children of Ukraine.

Caribbean Region Storms

The Caribbean Region continues to face multiple, powerful storms, and more are projected. Haiti has been hardest hit with more than 8,000 people left homeless and 100 people dead. Pray that these storms weaken as they reach inhabited land areas and for those who have been affected by the storms as they rebuild their lives.

Koshi Flood Disaster in Nepal

In eastern Nepal, the Koshi River erupted from its embankment and carved a channel of destruction. To date 107,200 people have been affected and 44,000-70,000 people are displaced by the country’s worst flooding in five decades. Pray for the people in eastern Nepal as they recover from the flooding.

Phil and Denise Anderson

Pray for Phil and Denise Anderson who have been serving as the regional communications coordinator and Nazarene Compassionate Ministries coordinator. They have been asked to work at the Africa Regional Office and will begin in January 2009. Pray for the many details of their move and that they will become established easily into their new ministry responsibilities.

Dear Friends & Family,

Some of you will have gotten this already as Pastor Acy and I have some of the same addresses.

Thanks so much for praying.

I am finally hooked back up with my own computer so hopefully I can keep up now.

Warren Neal

Dear all,

Just a quick note to let you know that finally we are registered!!! Today I went to te office and the guy told me that the director already sign the papers. But he wants all the people whose name are on the board to come and sign.

My problem now is those who supposed to sign are not in Dili: Amudeo is in his village, Lito is in Oecussi, Benny is in Australia....and Ps. sameul is in Losplaos (but I can ask him to come over to Dili). I'm excited but I can't get the certificate until next week after they all are in Dili. Anyway, I'm going to bring a cake to the office just to thank them for this.

Thanks for all prayers...God is awesome. Please pray that they all be back soon.

In His name,

Acy

July 27, 2007

Dear Friends & Family,

What a wonderful week we have had! Busy, very busy,  but filed with God's blessings.

Sunday afternoon after the membership service here in Dili I drove to Lospalos. On this trip I had asked Wira and Deborah and their daughter (our
missionaries from Indonesia) to go along. Some other young people went along as well. We arrived late in the afternoon and even though we were really tired we conducted a membership class review and interviewed 4 young people to take into membership in the church in Lospalos.

On Monday we had a special service and talked about baptism. Pastor Samuel did a great job of preaching and then we went to "our" special place to
baptize one young man. He had not been baptized a few weeks ago because he just didn't feel ready, but a short time later he went to talk with Pastor
Samuel and said that he really wanted to be baptized and join The Church of the Nazarene. This young man has an incredible story of God's grace and
mercy in his life.  I have written much about him in previous emails. When we returned to the youth center those of us who were wet changed our clothes and we had another service. I preached about criteria for leaders in the church taken from 1 Timothy 3. Then Wira took Pastor Samuel and Pastor Ully in as members by transfer.  Following that Pastor Samuel took in the other four members by profession of faith. Our little church was filled with about 25 people!  Most of them had never witnessed a baptism before and certainly all were first time witnesses to the taking in of members. There are two other youngmen who are ready for membership but they had to go to the village for a funeral.

Tuesday, we all climbed into the truck and and drove three more hours down the road (if you can call it that) to the village of Iliomar. Several of our young people are from there and one of the young men that is a student at the Nazarene Bible College in Indonesia, is also from Iliomar. I think I enjoy the journey as much as I enjoy visiting at the end of the journey. We always have such a great time along the road. It is interesting to me the things that people will talk about and the things you can find out about as you travel along. We had a good visit and returned to Lospalos in the late afternoon.

Wednesday was spent resting and talking. It was great to spend time with Pastor Samuel and Ully and see baby Angel again. She sure is growing!
Ully is a great mom!

Thursday, we journeyed back to Dili and were very tired at the end of the day.

Friday, we had a team meeting and then went out to lunch together with our Brazilian friends, Dayan and Mirna, who have been helping us in the church.

Today is Saturday and not too many hours to go until we get on the plane on Monday to start our home assignment and the packing is still not done. I
just got a call to take some young people some where at 6pm. So I guess what I don't get packed will just have to stay behind. One of the guys said,
"Uncle, why do you need to take clothes to America? You can just buy some new ones!" I like that idea but it does take money :-D   and time.

Next time you hear from me it will be from the other side of the Pacific Ocean.

God bless you,

Warren Neal

July 20, 2008

Dear Friends & Family,

Monday and Wednesday, Ems, our volunteer from the Philippines conducted two workshops on communications. Several people where in attendance and we are hopeful  that out of these workshops we will see increased activity in several areas of communication. We currently have a radio program on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. A local Christian radio station gives us free time. We are also anticipating using that time more affectively following
these workshops.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday we had meetings with people who had expressed a desire to join the church. We spent time reviewing the Mission
of the church, the Core Values, the Articles of Faith and the Covenant of Christian Conduct. Then each person was interviewed and asked to share their testimony. It was a special time of blessing to hear the stories of how God has been working in their lives bringing them to this point. I felt honored to be able to participate in this step of the church's development.

Saturday afternoon we had a baptism with two people sharing their testimonies and giving a public witness to their commitment to follow
Christ.

Sunday, 18 people joined the Church of the Nazarene here in Dili! This was the first time that members have been taken into the church in Timor Leste. One person, Pastor Acy, was received by transfer from Indonesia, and the other 17 were by profession of faith. I wish I had the words and the time to tell you about each individual person and how God has been working in their lives. What an exciting time it is for the church. We are thankful for all of your prayers over the years. The devil tried to stop this ceremony  in several different ways but, praise God, he didn't!

Have a wonderful week,

Warren Neal
