You are the Church
Read Acts 1: 1-11
When you think of or hear the word "church" what thoughts or images come to mind?
Words like building, preacher, suits, dresses, potlucks, children's church, pews, ect.
It could also be a place of comfort, or some could say boring, or where God lives.
Reread Acts 1: 6-8
Jesus' disciples wanted him to restore his Kingdom right then. Jesus told them "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samariar, and to the ends of the earth."
The "church" Jesus is refering to is not a building, the "church" is YOU. You make up the church, you ARE the CHURCH!
Take a few minutes to think deeply about you being the church. When you look into a mirror tell yourself "I am the Church. Spend time in prayer asking God to remind and give you a vision of being the Church.

Crying out for God
Read Acts 1:12-26
Our book gives an example of a little 6 year old boy moving a heavy box to the car. The dad could see that he was struggling to carry the box and would need help lifting it into the backseat of the car. The dad asked his son if he wanted help. The 6 year old said, "no thanks. I got it dad! I will let you know when I need help.
Does this situation sound familiar? How many times has God asked us if we need help and we say, "I got it God. I let you know when I need your help." We try to do things on our own, and we wait till we can no longer figure things out on our own to ask God for help. We should be asking God for help in everything we do, even the smallest of tasks.
Are there things in your life right now that seems like no one understands or could help you? God can. Spend a few minutes writing a letter to God, asking him for help and releasing that burden that has been holding you captive for to long now. As we all know, that when we confess things to God and seek his guidence and direction the devil is not going to like it. He will be right there reminding you how no one really understands. People have let you down before, nothing has changed. He might remind you of times you have tried to follow God before and you had fallen away. Just remind the devil that you gave that situation to God and that it is handled. It won't be easy, but God can do so much more than we could ever do in our "humaness".
If you need to find an accountablility partner. Someone who is grounded in the Lord and who you trust. Accountability partners are great to have to help keep us honest with ourselves and with God.
