A Thought from Pastor Bob

On Becoming Followers of Jesus...

John writes: "But friends, that's exactly who we are: children of God. And that's only the beginning. Who knows how we'll end up! What we know is that when Christ is openly revealed, we'll see him--and in seeing him, become like him" 1 John 3:2 The Message.

We are NOT FINISHED PRODUCTS! We, sometimes, forget this fact, thinking we have arrived. What normally takes place, at the same time, is the assumption that others HAVE NOT similarly arrived. But, this is important, we are still "becoming..." We are still on the journey with and toward Jesus.

I chage at the bumper sticker that reads: "pbpwmgifwmy" (please be patient with me, God isn't finished with me yet). Too often, it is simply on excuse for our shortcomings. We use it to explain away our own "bad behavior". Rather like the expression, "The Devil made me do it!" The truth is that God is not finished with us; we are still becoming followers of Jesus. We will still fail from time to time. Humbly, we should confess that we are still on the journey with and toward our Savior, Jesus.

But, that does not excuse our anger, hate, prejudice, lack of compassion, lust pride (you fill in the temptation to sin with which you constantly struggle). Though we are still "Becoming followers of Jesus..." He is working in us, remaking us in His image. We are partnering with Him as together, we "...continue to work out (our) salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in (us) to will and to act according to his good purpose" (Philippians 2:12b-13, NIV).

We need each other as we move forward...Becoming Followers of Jesus:: Loving God, Loving People, and Serving Our World!

 Friday Night Live

In the last 23 months we have fed 35,000 meals, 34,500 people.

Someone from the County said to us, "I was so surprised that all they want to do is feed the people." that is our goal. We know that wehave done more than that, we have paid for aprtments, clothes, coats, hats, scarves, jeans and much more.

To do this another year, we need sponsors each month, we ask for that from you. We need $1,500 a month to get this done, that is not a lot of money, but it is when you do not have it.

Please go on our blog: fridaynightliveyakima.blogspot.com and read what is happening. There is also a place to donate, help us help those who can not help themselves.

Thank you ALL who have prayed for us the last 23 months, please continue to do so, we need that more than anything.
